Alastair Lidderdale Testimonials
"As a very knowledgeable horseman I had become quite disenchanted with the whole business of racehorse ownership, having been frustrated and let down by a number of trainers in the Lambourn Valley. Frankly I was considering giving the whole game up but when I first met the Lidderdales I was impressed by their honesty and integrity which coupled with Alastairs sound and wide experience, gave me enough confidence to try again. My previous experiences were a useful learning curve and enabled me to be patient and realistic in my expectations. The big gangly filly I sent to Eastbury Cottage Stables grew into Mistress Nell who in the past two seasons has gone from strength to strength, a combined achievement from all the professional team who surround Alastair. We look forward to building on our success and adding more wins and prize money to the pot, and cared for along the way with entertainment and hospitality amply provided by Alastairs wife Alison."
Anthony Hallows – Owner Mistress Nell
When running a horse racing owners partnership we believe the key to success is being associated with a ‘hands on’ trainer who is prepared to take the time out to make our fellow partnership owners feel special. This gives the platform for a successful relationship from which ‘on the track’ enjoyment and success will follow hand in hand. I met Alastair Lidderdale 12 months ago and we now have two of our partnership horses in training at Eastbury Cottage Stables. I have been involved with many trainers in the past and none can surpass the dedication, knowledge and attention to detail applied by Alastair and his team. The hospitality at the yard offered by Alastair’s wife Alison where owners are welcomed with frequency is second to none and I would recommend the team here to anyone wanting to have involvement in this wonderful sport.
Kevin McCarthy – Racing Manager for The KMC Partnership.
I have known Alastair since I was 10 years old, at that age I told him I was going to ride for him as a jockey - I now have, many times, along with my sister Sophie - we were in fact the first two people to ride horses away from their yard at Eastbury when Alastair and Alison moved there in 2004. Alastair has supported me in my racing career since I started, and I hope we will have a long and fruitful relationship as jockey and trainer, as his yard grows so will my career and I very much hope I will be on the back of many of their winners!
James Doyle – Flat Jockey
I have known Alastair for many years and ridden for him since he started training, in my experience Alastair has always produced young horses that are well and ready to race, he also has a reputation for rekindling enthusiasm in horses that have lost their way. I would certainly recommend him as a man with an eye for detail, a good trainer and someone I would happily ride for on any occasion. Training from a small yard has its benefits and that certainly shows when you see his horses at the track.
Mick Fitzgerald – National Hunt Jockey
I have ridden horses and consequently winners for Alastair since he started his training career, I ride them with the knowledge that they are always fit, well schooled and placed in races where we hope to succeed. We have a great working relationship and the yard is run as a happy one from both a horse's perspective and his team, who are knowledgeable, dedicated and hugely loyal. Last season ended on a high for us all when I rode Mistress Nell to her first win after a succession of places throughout the season.
Mark Bradburne - National Hunt Jockey
Alastair Lidderdale has a small string of moderate horses, but they are running well at present. In the last two weeks the stable has enjoyed wins from Clawed (25-1) and Take It There (16-1) and also good runs from Marron Flore (4th at 50-1) and Mistress Nell (4th at 40-1). There aren’t that many horses in the yard, but anything sent out from the stable in the next week or two merits consideration whilst they are running so well. "His last five runners have included a third at 66-1 and two fourths at 66-1 and 40-1... Don't be surprised if a big-priced winner pops up soon."
