Racing Club visit to HEROS

We enjoyed a special Racing Club morning on Sat Oct 1 with a visit to HEROS – the rehoming ex-racehorses charity. They are hugely grateful for the £400 we raised for them through donations and Christmas card sales.

We watched our own horses in training on the gallops as usual before making our way directly to North Farm Stud, the home of HEROS, to see first hand the work that goes in to ensuring bright and useful futures for those thoroughbreds who find themselves unable to continue a racing career.

A riding demonstration of three ex-racehorses, including Elite Racing Club’s Eisteddfod with Glencalvie and Merlin’s Dancer, was followed by a tour of the yard and facilities. The passion and dedication of Founder and CEO Grace Muir and her team made a huge impression on everyone there.

Many racing club members will already have experienced the hospitality at HEROS having partied at the HEROS Masked Ball on Sep 17. A fun evening that raised vital funds (click here to see some pictures).

We applaud the work HEROS undertakes on behalf of the racing industry.

Visitors enjoyed watching HEROS-trained ex-racehorses going through their controlled paces in the school, in the shadow of the North Farm Stud oak tree, whilst retired racehorses Quartano and While U Picnic relaxed in the surrounding fields.

Racing Club open days

Saturday October 1

On a glorious summer's day in October racing club members and owners enjoyed watching their horses at work on the gallops before being treated to a visit to HEROS (left) – to find out more about what happens to racehorses when they're no longer racing.

The Entertainments Committee racing club

Our black and white colours tell you what we are... straightforward. Our name tells you what you will get... entertainment.

We take you racing, affordably. Your membership moves you from the sidelines to the inside track of racing.

The Entertainments Committee (TEC) aims to always have at least two horses in training, racing on both the flat and over fences throughout the year.

A social venture

TEC plans its year around the racing calendar to provide year-round entertainment. As well as many exciting visits to the races we enjoy pre-race picnics at Royal Ascot and Glorious Goodwood as well as golf days, cricket matches and visits to a local stud or other similar organisation.

On the first Saturday of every month we open our gates to members and connections of the yard, many of whom have become firm friends.

Wake-up coffee on arrival at around 9.30am is followed by a trip to the gallops to watch the horses at work. Breakfast with bacon rolls, fruit juice and home made soup on chilly winter mornings is waiting on your return – although a recent winner may be celebrated with something a little stronger!

This all-year round entertainment is available for just £480 per year. We offer two payment options:

  • Option 1: Pay in full and take advantage of a 10% discount. Total payable £432

  • Option 2: 12 monthly payments of £40 by Standing Order. Total payable £480

If you require further information, or wish to join The Entertainments Committee, please contact us and we will be happy to help.
